Prerequisites to Configure the Egnyte Cloud Collector

Before you configure the Egnyte Cloud Collector you must complete the following prerequisites:

  • Obtain the application key (client ID) and client secret.

  • Note the hostname shared by the Egnyte support team.

  • Note the user name and password of the Egnyte administrator.

  • Ensure that the https://*.egnyte.com service is open for communication with the New-Scale Security Operations Platform.

Obtain an Application Key or Client ID and Client Secret

Egnyte APIs are authenticated via application keys. You must register for a developer account, register your application, and obtain the application key that you can use as a client ID while configuring the Egnyte Cloud Collector.

To obtain an application key:

  1. Log in to the Egnyte developer console.

  2. Navigate to My Account> Applications > Create a New Application.

  3. In the Register your New Application section, enter the required information:

    1. Name of your application – Specify a name for your application.

    2. Type – Select Internal Application (own company use only).

    3. Current User Base – Select New App.

    4. Platform – Select Web App.

    5. Egnyte domain you will use for testing – Specify the Egnyte account domain. For example, myorg.egnyte.com.

  4. In the Select which Web APIs this Application will Use section, select Egnyte Connect API.

  5. In the Terms of Service section, select I have read and agree to the Egnyte API Terms of Service.

  6. Click Register Application.

  7. After you register the application, and after the application is approved by Egnyte, navigate to your API Keys section in the Egnyte developer portal.

    Record the Client ID (application key) and Client Secret to use it for configuring the Egnyte collector.
