Default Credential Usage and Change Activity Dashboard

This dashboard provides an overview of default credential activities in your organization, including default credentials usage and password change activity.

This dashboard can assist you in complying with the following regulatory requirements: GDPR 5.1.f, PCI 2.1.1.b, NIST 800-66 R1 4.14.3, HIPAA 164.312-a1, NIST 800-53 IA-5, TSC SOC2 CC6.1.2, CJIS 5.6.3.2, NIST 800-53 SA-8(23), NIST 800-53 IA-5(5).

"Default usernames" are usernames that include any of the following terms:

  • admin

  • default

  • oracle

  • root

  • svc

  • system

Time Range Filter

The Event : Approx Log Time filter sets the time range for the event data. The default setting is in the last 7 days. You can update this filter with a wide range of customizable settings.

To update the time range filter, click the arrow (icon-expand.png) on the right, under the Edit button, to expand the filters panel. In the Event : Approx Log Time filter, select an operator from the first drop down menu and then enter or select values in the subsequent fields, depending on the operator you selected. To save your filter changes, click Apply on the right side of the filter panel. The updated filter is applied to the visualization.

Number of Users with Default Usernames

This single value bar chart displays the number of unique users with default usernames who have been active within the selected time range.

Number of Users with Password Change Activities

This single value bar chart displays the number of unique users who have had their passwords changed within the selected time range.

Default Username Activity Trends

This line graph displays the activity trends of the different default usernames in you organization. To view the values represented in the chart, move your pointer over the graph lines and hover on the data points. To view the underlying events of a value, click the data point, and then click Show Results in Search.

Top 5 Default Users

This pie chart displays the count proportions of the top 5 most active default usernames. To view the represented values, hover your pointer over the graph slices. To view the underlying events of a value, click the graph slice, and then click Show Results in Search.

Password Change Activity Trends

This line graph shows the count trends for password changes over the selected time range. To view the values represented in the chart, hover your pointer over the graph lines to display the data points. To view the underlying events of a value, click the data point, and then click Show Results in Search.

Recent Password Change Activities

Click the heading of the column that you want to sort the data by. Click the arrow icon to change between ascending Sort-Up.png and descending Sort-Down.png orders. You may need to use the scroll bar on the right to view all the table rows.

Recent Activities with Default Usernames

This table provides details on the last 20 events involving default usernames. Click the heading of the column that you want to sort the data by. Click the arrow icon to change between ascending Sort-Up.png and descending Sort-Down.png orders. To view all the rows and columns, use the scroll bars at the bottom and on the right side of the table.
