Add Accounts for Splunk Cloud Collectors

You can use your Splunk Cloud account across one or more Splunk Cloud Collector instances. Before you can add your account, you must identify the authentication method and obtain the identifying information.

Cloud Collectors support Splunk accounts that use either of the following authentication methods:

  • Basic authentication – Before you add an account, obtain the username and password of your Splunk account for the Basic authentication method. This is the username and password you use for logging on to the Splunk Cloud console.

  • Token authentication – (Recommended) Using this method provides you with an option to revoke the token without impacting your username and password. If you do not already have a token from Splunk, you can create one from the Splunk Cloud console:

    1. Click Settings and then click Tokens in the Users and Authentication group.

    2. Proceed with enabling token authorization and click New Token.

    3. Specify the audience and token validity and click Create.

Record the token value that is generated as you will need it to proceed with the account creation in Cloud Collectors.

For more information about obtaining a token, see Use Splunk Web to create authentication tokens in the Splunk Cloud documentation.
