CollectorsCloud Collectors Administration Guide

Prerequisites to Configure the Tenable Collector

Before you configure the Tenable cloud collector you must obtain the Tenable account information containing API access key and secret key.

Obtain API Access Key and Secret Key

The Tenable Vulnerability Management API is authenticated via API access and secret keys. The API keys linked to your user account let you access all Tenable Vulnerability Management products your organization is licensed for. For more information, see Generate API Keys in the Tenable documentation. Use the following steps to generate the API access key and secret key.

  1. Log in to the Tenable console and access the My Account page.

  2. In the left pane, click API Keys.

  3. Navigate to My Account > API Keys.

  4. Click Generate. Tenable displays the values for API access key and secret key.

    Note

The method of generating API access and secret keys varies based on the user role. Administrators can generate API keys for any user account. The users with other roles can generate API keys only for their own account. To generate API keys, a user must have the one of these user roles: Basic, Scan Operator, Standard, Scan Manager, or Administrator. For more information about roles and permissions see Tenable Permissions.

Record the values for the API access key and secret key. Use these values to authenticate the API client while configuring the Tenable Cloud Collector on the New-Scale Security Operations Platform.
