Prerequisites to Configure the AWS CloudWatch Cloud Collector
Before you configure the AWS CloudWatch Cloud Collector, complete the following prerequisites:
Gain access to Amazon Data Firehose console and CloudWatch console.
Create the S3 Bucket
To ensure that data is backed up and preserved, enable source record back up of failed or all data in Firehose by creating the S3 bucket. If AWS Data Firehose fails to stream the data to the Cloudwatch collector destination, all the data backup is stored in the S3 bucket.
To create the S3 bucket:
Log in to the AWS console with your credentials.
Navigate to the S3 console and click Create bucket. For more information see Creating a Bucket in the AWS documentation. While creating a bucket, when you specify a name for your S3 bucket, ensure that the bucket name is unique and follows the Bucket naming rules mentioned by AWS. For example, mylogs.mycompanyname.
