Prerequisites for Configuring the AWS CloudWatch Alarms Cloud Collector
Before you configure the AWS CloudWatch Alarms cloud collector, you must complete the following prerequisites.
Ensure that you update the IAM policy with the required JSON file for the AWS CloudWatch Alarms cloud collector while creating the IAM policy. For more information, see Create an IAM Policy section for the STSAssumeRole authentication method in Add Accounts for AWS Cloud Collectors.
Create a CloudWatch Alarm
Ensure that you have created the alarms in the AWS CloudWatch dashboard for the cloud collector to collect events related to alarms. Use the following steps to create a CloudWatch Alarm.
On the AWS CloudWatch dashboard, navigate to Alarms > All alarms.
On the Alarms page, click Create alarm.
To select a metric on which you want to create the CloudWatch Alarm, click Select metric.
Select a metric type. Based on the metric that you select, you can configure the conditions. This example explains SQS metric.
Select a specific metric to configure an alarm and click Select metric.
Add specific conditions for the metric. You can specify statistic, period, and thresholds, and comparison operators.
Click Next and set notifications for the alarm that will be created.
Enter a name and description for the alarm and click Next.
Preview the details and click Create alarm.
The alarm that you created is listed in the Alarms list.
