Prerequisites to Configure the Dropbox Cloud Collector

Before you configure the Dropbox Cloud Collector you must complete the following prerequisites:

  • Set the required permissions in the Dropbox developer portal, for the collector to access the events endpoint.

  • Generate the App key and App Secret.

Generate the App key, App Secret, and Set Permissions

Use the following steps to set permissions and obtain the App Key and App Secret.

  1. Log in to the Dropbox developer portal to create a Dropbox application for your organization. For more information, see https://www.dropbox.com/developers.

  2. On the Dropbox developer portal, click Create app.

  3. In the Choose an API section, click Scoped access.

  4. Select the access type Full Dropbox.

  5. Specify a name for the app based on the Dropbox branding guide, then click Create app.

  6. To set permissions, in the Permissions section, click Scoped App.

  7. Select the check boxes for the following permissions:

    • account_info.read

    • team_info.read

    • team_data.member

    • members.read

    • groups.read

    • events.read

  8. Click Submit.

  9. Navigate to Settings.

  10. Click the Show link for the App Key and the App Secret fields, then record the App Key and App Secret.

    Note

    While configuring the Dropbox cloud collector, for OAuth2 authentication, enter the App key in the Client ID field and the App Secret in the Client Secret field.

  11. To let Dropbox authenticate the cloud collector, in the Redirect URIs field enter the URL based on your environment. For example, https://abc-xyz.staging.exabeam.cloud/app/collectors/cloud-collectors/oauth.
