Prerequisites to Configure the Mimecast Incydr Cloud Collector

Before you configure the Mimecast Incydr cloud collector you must complete the following prerequisites:

  • Ensure that you have the Mimecast administrator role.

  • Obtain the client ID and client secret by creating a new API Client.

  • Ensure that you assign the required permissions for the required endpoints while creating the API client.

Create a new API Client to Obtain Client ID and Secret Keys

Use the following steps to create a new API client in the Incydr console and obtain the client ID and client secret keys. It is recommended to create a unique API client for each of the API integrations.

  1. Log in to the Mimecast Incydr console as an administrator. For more information about the console, see Incydr console overview in the Mimecast documentation.

  2. Navigate to Administration > Integrations > API Clients.

  3. Click Create new API client.

  4. Enter a name and description.

  5. In the API permissions area, select the APIs for which the API client has read and write permissions.

API permissions list the endpoints that the API client is allowed to use. When you create or edit an API client, assign only the minimal read/write permissions needed to maintain least‑privilege access. For more information, see API permissions in the Mimecast documentation.

  6. Click Save.

The page displays the client ID, secret, and base URL.

  7. Record the Client ID and Client Secret to use them while configuring the Mimecast Incydr cloud collector. The secret is displayed only once. If you lose the secret for this client ID, you must reset the secret by navigating to Administration > Integrations > API ClientsActions. For more information, see API clients in the Incydr console in the Mimecast documentation.
